Description of Activities

The gynaecological part of the Mother and Child Care Institute (MCCI) consists of an outpatient section and a bed section. The outpatient section provides the general gynaecological and specialised gynaecological care, that is, a complete range of gynaecological services.

Upon entering our hospital, each patient must register in the record system room where she will present the insured person’s card and an identification card (a citizen ID card or a passport). From there, she is usually sent to the general outpatient section where she undergoes a gynaecological examination and, if necessary, she is hospitalised in the bed section.

In addition to the intensive care unit, there are 2 departments at the MCCI: G2 and G3. the G3 department is situated on the ground floor next to the outpatient wing – it is the department for oncology and conservative gynaecology. An oncological day-care centre is an integral part of the G3 department where chemotherapy is applied to women with malignant breast and female genitalia tumours. The Centre for Treatment of Trophoblastic Disease is a unique unit, which is the only one in the Czech Republic that concentrates ill persons with this diagnosis.

At present, we carry out surgeries in 3 operating theatres and at the beginning of the next year, we will open a completely new surgical wing, which will be equipped with the state-of-the-art surgical technology. We offer a wide spectrum of surgeries to our patients, ranging from radical oncological surgeries to endoscopic surgeries. Minor surgeries such as curettage and hysteroscopy and some laparoscopic surgeries are carried out as a part of the one-day surgical programme.
