IVF ÚPMD
The Assisted Reproduction (IVF) Centre is found in the newly reconstructed areas of the Mother and Child Care Institute (UPMD), a holder of the E.B.C.O.G. Certificate for European Obstetric and Gynaecological Training Centres.

The IVF Centre is engaged in comprehensive diagnostics and treatment of infertile married couples, including in-vitro fertilisation with embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and the related micromanipulation techniques such as ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) where one sperm cell is injected into each oocyte, and assisted hatching, which makes it easier for the fertilised oocyte to get out of its shell. The centre carries out MESA (microepididymal sperm aspiration) and TESE (testicular sperm extraction) microsurgeries, in which spermatozoa are extracted directly from a testicle or an epididymis in a short-term anaesthesia in the case of male azoospermia (no sperm in the ejaculate). Such extracted spermatozoa are then injected directly into an oocyte by using the ICSI method.
The Centre IVF offers egg, sperm and embryo donor treatment. In indicated cases, it ensures immunological and genetic examination, including pre-implantation diagnostics (PGD).
IVF-ET is carried out only for married couples or for partners who have lived in a shared household on a long-term basis (the partners have to sign a report – a declaration that they want to have a child together).
The people interested in treatment of infertility can come from the Czech Republic as well as from abroad. A patient who is not insured in the Czech Republic will pay all the costs of the treatment. A patient who has full insurance in the Czech Republic has 3 IVF-ET cycles paid by their medical insurance company.
The advantage of the IVF Centre is that it is a part of the UPMD and therefore it offers not only infertility treatment but also subsequent complete care after successful impregnation of the woman, including her childbirth and post-natal care.
For physicians and embryologists who want to become specialists in the field of assisted reproduction, training is ensured by the IVF Centre experts with many-year experience in infertility treatment. Upon request, the training in this field is ensured in the form of an educational stay based on individual requirements. In conclusion of the training, the trainee will receive a certificate.
