ÚPMD / Upgraded rooms

Certain wards within the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child offer patients the possibility of staying in one of 19 upgraded rooms. The following wards offer:

• Maternity ward 1 (P1): 3 rooms
• Maternity ward 2 (P2): 11 rooms
• Maternity ward 3 (P3): 2 rooms
• Maternity ward 4 (P4): 1 room
• Gynaecology 2 (G2): 2 rooms

Prices vary according to the size of the room, the furnishings and the view.

Reservations

It is possible to reserve a room by paying a deposit on the given day. You will pay the full price in advance for each day of your stay even if you are not there – the room is already yours. For financial reasons and due to the limited availability of rooms this is the only way that we can hold (reserve) a vacant room. You can also announce your interest in an upgraded room upon admission to the maternity ward - provided there is a free room available which has not been pre-paid you will be offered a room on a first come first served basis.

The set up of upgraded rooms

All upgraded rooms have the following:

• a bed for the patient
• the possibility for the accompaniment to stay over (separate bed, sofa bed (armchair))
• private WC
• shower
• television
• refrigerator
• kettle
• telephone for calls within the Prague area (costs will be charged separately)

Visiting hours

There is no limit on visiting hours for patients staying in upgraded rooms (this is not the case in other rooms).

Meals

All patients receive the standard hospital meals (breakfast, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and dinner). In addition to this it is possible to choose from the upgraded menu (in all the above mentioned wards). The accompaniment must bear the costs of meals themself (whether it be the standard meals or the upgraded meal menu). All prices are shown on the menu. Our kitchen is able to accommodate the most varied dietary requirements (special diets, vegetarian etc.).

Parking with the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child

Visitors, patients and accompaniments can request a parking card (from all wards) for parking within the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child for a fee of 150 CZK/day.

Care

A high quality and comprehensive care package is offered for those staying in upgraded rooms (doctors, mid-wives, paediatric nurses).

In certain wards (P1, P4, P2 – 4 rooms out of 11) there is a new program of fully comprehensive care for mother and child by a specialist nurse.

Our care program has been designed with the patient in mind so that it is both personal and thorough.

Payment

Stays in upgraded rooms must always be guaranteed by a deposit – at the beginning of one‘s stay it is necessary to leave a deposit of 4,000 CZK at the Institute’s payment office. At the end of one’s stay in hospital an invoice will be issued for the total cost incurred including any additional charges (and where applicable the balance will be returned). It is necessary to settle the payment within 24 hours. Payments can be made in cash or by credit card until 14:00 on weekdays at the Institute’s payment office. After 14:00 and at weekends it is only possible to make payments at the gynaecology out-patient clinic.

If two patients decide to share an upgraded room, then each one will pay half of the cost - unless they agree otherwise.

Discharge from hospital (end of one’s stay in hospital)

Having been discharged by the doctor it is necessary to vacate an upgraded room by 10.00. For stays after this time it is necessary to pay 50% of the room price per day in addition to the normal room charges.

Payments for patients who do not have Czech health insurance

Patients and their accompaniments, who do not have Czech health insurance, are subject to different payment conditions. More information can be found at the Institute’s payment department.

PLEASE NOTE

If an insured patient (with Czech health insurance) requests to stay in the care of the ward even when she has been medically discharged by the doctor (there is no medical reason to stay in hospital care), upgraded rooms are charged according to the second tier prices for uninsured patients.
